    The effects of commercial fibres on frozen bread dough

    The daily intake of dietary fibres in highly industrialized countries is at a low level and, therefore, adversely affecting human health. The objective of this research was to analyze the influence of different commercial fibres (originating from sugar beet pulp fibrex, and Jerusalem artichoke inulin HPX and GR) in yeast dough at a level of 5 %, on the rheological properties of dough and the quality of bread during frozen storage. Frozen dough characteristics were determined using a Brabender maturograph and test baking was followed according the AACC procedure. The dough was frozen at –18 °C and stored over a period of 60 days. The results concerning the dough (proving time and stability) and bread quality (volume and crumb quality) were statistically analyzed by multivariance Manova and discriminative analysis, which indicated that there was a significant difference between dough without fibres and dough with different fibres (fibrex, inulin HPX and GR). The discrimination coefficient points that the greatest influence of fibres on the final proof and proving stability is after 30 days (6.250) and after 0 days (6.158), respectively, but the greatest influence of fibres on bread volume and bread crumb quality (15.488 and 3.638, respectively) can be expected on non frozen dough, due to above mention their adverse the effect on gluten network

    Using SVG–XML FOR representation of historical graphical data

    An Electromagnetism Metaheuristic for the Uncapacitated Multiple Allocation Hub Location Problem

    In this article, the results achieved by applying an electromagnetism (EM) inspired metaheuristic to the uncapacitated multiple allocation hub location problem (UMAHLP) are discussed. An appropriate objective function which natively conform with the problem, 1-swap local search and scaling technique conduce to good overall performance.Computational tests demonstrate the reliability of this method, since the EM-inspired metaheuristic reaches all optimal/best known solutions for UMAHLP, except one, in a reasonable time.This research was partially supported by the Serbian Ministry of Education and Science under project 174010

    Fine-grained Tournament Selection Operator in Genetic Algorithms

    Tournament selection is one of the most popular selection operators in Genetic Algorithms. Recently, its popularity is increasing because this operator is well suited for Parallel Genetic Algorithms applications. In this paper, new selection operator is proposed. The new operator, which should be an improvement of the tournament selection, is named ``Fine-grained Tournament Selection'' (FGTS). It is shown that classical tournament selection is a special case of the FGTS and that new operator preserves its good features. Furthermore, theoretical estimations for the FGTS are made. Estimations for the FGTS are similar to those for the classical tournament selection. Finally, classical tournament selection, rank-based selection and FGTS are experimentally compared on a real world NP-hard problem and the obtained results are discussed

    The bronze signum from Timacum Maius and its cultic attribution

    The bronze signum discussed in this paper was discovered by archaeological ex­cavation on the site of Timacum Maius in 2010. Found in the area of a luxurious Roman-period building, the artefact shows a tapering body with a central conical socket similar to a spearhead socket. It is one of the twenty-three known signa of the so-called classical-type. Most of them were found in the context of the cult of Jupiter Dolichenus, and we also presume the cultic purpose of the bronze signum from Timacum Maius. A similar find comes from Jupiter Dolichenus’ shrine in Egeta on the Danube limes with an inscription that connects it directly with the Dolichenian cult, and with the First Cohort of Cretans (Cohors I Cretum), the unit which had previously been stationed at Timacus Maius. The signum from Timacum Maius is most likely also connected with the cult of Jupiter Dolichenus and chronologically belongs to a period which is much earlier than the Severan age

    A SURVEY OF SUBJECTIVE OPINIONS OF POPULATION ABOUT SEISMIC RESISTANCE OF RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS

    The unpredictability and the seriousness of the potential earthquake consequences for people and residential buildings in Serbia imply the need for improving the resilience of local communities. The paper presents the results of a quantitative research regarding the level and factors of influence on the awareness of citizens about the seismic resistance of their residential buildings to earthquake consequences. Multiple-point random sampling was used to survey 1,018 citizens (face to face) during 2017 in 8 local communities: Kraljevo, Lazarevac, Jagodina, Mionica, Prijepolje, Vranje, Lapovo and Kopaonik. The questionnaire consisted of two segments: questions on demographic, socio-economic and psychological characteristics of respondents and questions regarding resistance of residential buildings to earthquake consequences. The results show that 35% of respondents state that they live in residential buildings that are not resistant to earthquakes, while 70.7% state that they live in buildings built of reinforced concrete, which are considered safe. Beside that 9.2% of respondents examined the resistance of their facilities to earthquake consequences. Inferential statistical analyses show that men to a greater extent than women state that their buildings are resistant to earthquake consequences. Starting from the multidimensionality of citizen vulnerability to earthquakes, it is necessary to conduct additional studies and further elucidate the sociological dimension of vulnerability and resilience.

    Locating the timacum maius station on the roman road lissus-naissus-ratiaria: New archaeological research

    As the exact location of two Timacum stations remains an open issue, the results of the latest archaeological investigations in the environs of Svrljig, southeast Serbia, seem to offer some corroborative evidence for the hypothesis proposed in our previous contribution that this might be the location of Roman Timacum Maius. A small-scale trial excavation was undertaken on the Roman site at Kalnica in the Niševac village area in July 2008. A trench 4 by 2m was opened in the zone of the site that had yielded plentiful fragments of building debris as well as small finds. A massive wall over 1m thick was found immediately beneath the surface. Built of bro­ken limestone and pebbles bound with lime mortar, it obviously was part of a larger structure. To the northeast of the wall was an area covered with fragmented roof tiles. The discovery of two ceramic tumuli embedded in the wall, indicating a wall-heating system so far unregistered on the representative Roman urban and settlement sites in Serbia, gives additional grounds to presume that this was a larger Roman settlement extending over an area of more than 5ha, possibly Timacum Maius, a station on the Roman road Lissus-Ratiaria-Naissus

    Epigraphic and Archaeological Evidence Contributing to Identifying the Location and Character of Timacum Maius

    Systematic archaeological excavation in the area of the village of Niševac near Svrljig, southeast Serbia, of a Roman settlement site, possibly Timacum Maius station on the main Roman road Lissus-Naissus-Ratiaria connecting the Adriatic and the Danube, has been going on for five years. Epigraphic and etymological analysis of an inscription dedicated to Hera Sonketene (dat. Hρα Σονκητηνη) provides evidence for the possible balneological character of the entire area of Timacum Maius, which was geomorphologically similar to and connected by a road network with the Thracian region of Denteletika centred on Pautalia, where the dedicant, Tiberius Claudius Theopompus served as strategos. The archaeological evidence complements the conclusions suggested by the epigraphic material. The recently discovered secondcentury Roman structure furnished with a hypocaust system using perforated circular- sectioned pebble-filled ceramic tubuli for heating the floors and outer walls of the building may have served a balneal purpose. A sizeable Roman bathhouse, with remains of two pools and two rooms with a hypocaust and ceramic tubuli, has also been partially explored. In the broader area of Svrljig Valley (near the village of Prekonoga), a luxurious Roman villa with a marble hexagon, numerous rooms and a bath, recently subjected to a rescue excavation, has been completely cleared and recorded. The first geophysical survey on the Timacum Maius site has also been undertaken

    Agrobiološke osobine različitih genotipova običnog prosa (Panicum miliaceum L.) u redovnoj i postrnoj setvi

    Agro-biological traits of common millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) genotypes were studied on experimental lots of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Bački Petrovac, Serbia in 2009 and 2010. The study included 16 genotypes of millet grown and used in selection programs in Serbia and abroad. Crops in trials were based on regular and stubble crops. A significant variability appeared during and at the end of growing season in the number of days from emergence to earing of some genotypes of millet, plant height, grain yield, 1000-grain weight and test weight of the test material, and it can be used as a good basis for further work on breeding and improvement of common millet. Cluster analysis identified genotypes with high performance for yield per plant, but also good stability of other studied parameters. Studies have shown that the genetic factor had significant effect on realized values of all tested traits. The difference between the yield of millet in regular and stubble crops was also statistically significant. Out of 9 varieties and lines of millet, 3 of them achieved a higher yield in stubble crops. From the point of agro-biological traits, 2010 was more favourable for the production of millet.Na oglednim parcelama Instituta za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo, Novi Sad, u Bačkom Petrovcu u toku 2009. i 2010. istraživane su agrobiološke osobine različitih genotipova običnog prosa (Panicum miliaceum L.). U istraživanja je bilo uključeno 16 genotipova prosa koje se gaje i koriste u selekcijskim programima kod nas i u svetu. Usev u ogledima zasnovan je u redovnoj i postrnoj setvi. U toku i na kraju vegetacije utvrđena je značajna varijabilnost broja dana od nicanja do klasanja pojedinih genotipova prosa, visine biljke, prinosa zrna, mase 1000 zrna i hektolitarske masa ispitivanog materijala i ona može poslužiti kao dobra osnova za dalji rad na oplemenjivanju i unapređenju proizvodnje običnog prosa. Klaster analiza identifikovala je genotipove sa visokim performansama za prinos po biljci ali i dobre stabilnosti ostalih ispitivanih parametara. Istraživanja su pokazala da je genetski faktor bio veoma značajnog uticaja ostvarene vrednosti svih ispitivanih svojstava. Razlike između prinosa zrna prosa u redovnoj i postrnoj setvi takođe su bile statistički značajne. Od 9 sorti i linija prosa, tri su postigle viši prinos u postrnoj setvi. Sa aspekta agrobioloških osobina 2010. je bila povoljnija godina za proizvodnju prosa
